GOOG News: GMail Users No Longer Forced Into Google+

New users that sign up for a Gmail account with Google ( GOOG) will notice that they don't have to make a Google+ account.

Google has been forcing new Gmail users to make a Google+ account since 2012. This has changed with a small change that allows new users to opt out of the service. When creating a new Gmail account, users can select 'No Thanks' when they are promoted to create an account for the search giant's social media network, reports PC Magazine.

The change to no longer forcing Gmail users to create a Google+ account could be a sign that the service is slowing down. Vic Gundotra, the co-creator of Google+, left the company in April and other small features of the service have also been ending, PC Magazine notes.

Gmail users that are interested in creating a Google+ account after skipping the step during setup can still do so. All they have to do is click a button located in their Gmail account, reports Ars Technica.
