It's here. It's finally here. A new class system has finally arrived with Tumblr Pro!
If you've been on Tumblr today you've probably noticed an abundance of top hats. No, you didn't miss out on an invite to some fancy internet party. As part of an April Fool's day joke, Tumblr has decided to crown some of its users with a Tumblr Pro top hat. (You can go pro too. You should see a little blue button on your blog for a 'free upgrade' to Tumblr Pro.)
They also released a video explaining some of the benefits of going pro. Of course, it's a little hard to explain what those benefits are. The Tumblr Pro video starts off with some dreamy music as a woman explains who important ideas are to the world. The camera captures children playing, busy traffic, and artists working, before making the point that it's time for us all to stop screwing around 'go pro.'
'At Tumblr we believe in ideas and we believe in going pro. Because a pro doesn't see limits. A pro crushes the limits. Bone by bone. Idea by idea. You've always been a pro. Whether you know it or not.'

Tumblr isn't the only company to release an April Fool's Day joke. Google, YouTube, and Facebook always pull a few internet pranks today. Which reminds me... did you hear that Facebook just bought Nintendo for $16 billion!
