Getting rid of Instagram friends could be part of Selena Gomez' latest 'growing pains.'
The 'Come & Get It' singer, 21, has been posting solitary selfies and seemingly cryptic messages on her social media page, including one particularly pointed excerpt of a review of Mary J. Blige's 'Growing Pains' album.
'But as her latest album 'Growing Pains' makes it all too clear, unhappiness and insecurity are still constant companions and the record has enough anger and angst to thrill her fans of old,' the Daily Mail article from 2008 read.
'A typical example is the album's title track whose lyrics include: 'I got every material thing I could ever need/ I got the love from my fans that adore me/ And I'm grateful/ But my love for myself is lacking a little bit/ I have to admit that I'm working on me.''

Gomez may have been trying to convey that she relates to the message in some way. She also posted a selfie with a line from Amy Winehouse's sad song 'Back to Black.'
The singer appears to be going in a darker direction - one that has some fans worried. After being spotted at Coachella with on-and-off beau Justin Bieber, and Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Gomez unfollowed the famous sisters on Instagram. She also unfollowed her one-time best pal Taylor Swift, and apparently everyone else.
Gomez is removing 'negative influences' from her life, a source told E! News. She's apparently focusing on her music, and on her faith - attending church services more frequently, the insider added.

Earlier this month Gomez fired her parents from being her managers, and it was recently reported she hired Katy Perry's manager Bradford Cobb.
'I'm not saying I haven't made progress but I have got a lot of work to do if I want to sustain this breakthrough and stay in a positive state of mind,' Blige was quoted as saying in the article Gomez posted.
Gomez' Instagram homage to the 'No More Drama' singer ends there, but perhaps marks the beginning of her next phase in life.
