The come-hither Instagram photos of a number of female NYPD officers have done a disappearing act.
In fact, the account dedicated to fetching female cops far and wide - blueline_beauties - appears to have been taken down in the wake of a Monday Daily News story that said the NYPD officers could be disciplined for violating the department's social media policy.
A similar account for male officers, blueline_beefcakes, was also missing in action. On Monday, it appeared that just one male officer from the NYPD had his picture posted.
The NYPD Tuesday said it did not order - or ask for - any such takedown.
And Instagram did not respond to a request for comment.
Theoretically, any Instagram user could create accounts with the same names, though police sources said word spread quickly throughout the NYPD, warning officers to clean up their social media presence.
NYPD officers need permission to post photographs of themselves in uniform, unless it is a photo from an official department ceremony.
Most of the female officers who posted pictures of themselves in civilian attire were either flaunting their cleavage, pouting there lips or showing up their tight fitting outfits.
The Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, however, said the officers did 'nothing inappropriate.'
