Twitter Reactions to the Ferguson Grand Jury Decision

Some said they stood with Officer Darren Wilson. Far more mourned for Ferguson and for justice.

Lesley McSpadden, the mother of Michael Brown, left and standing on the top of a car, reacts Monday in Ferguson, Missouri, as she listens to the announcement of the grand jury decision not to indict officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of her son.

The first shots were fired in Ferguson, Missouri, just minutes after St. Louis County prosecutor Robert McCulloch announced a grand jury would not indict Officer Darren Wilson for the August shooting death of Michael Brown, an African-American teenager who was unarmed when he was killed. As smoke and pepper spray were deployed on the restless crowd and some protesters began to throw rocks through storefront windows and vandalize police cars, observers took to Twitter to react. Some said they still stood with Wilson. Far more mourned for Ferguson and for justice.

McCulloch said that everyone should still protest. Dude, don't you understand nobody wants to protest? We want justice. #Ferguson

Wow. McCulloch actually said 'The grand jury gave up their lives.' That rivals the head of BP saying he wanted his life back. #Ferguson

#Ferguson exists because of media hype. The media exacerbates racism, all of them, for profit.
