#putyourbatsout: Phillip Hughes fans post images of cricket bats in Twitter ...

Cricket fans have posted pictures of their bats online in tribute to Australian batsman Phillip Hughes .


The 25-year-old died yesterday, two days after he was struck in the neck by a bouncer bowled by friend and team mate Sean Abbott.


Hughes collapsed during the Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales at Sydney Cricket Ground and was rushed to hospital but never regained consciousness.


His death sent shockwaves around the globe and plunged the world of cricket into mourning.


Cricket fan Paul Taylor, a dad from Sydney, tweeted a picture of his cricket bat outside his front door with the hashtag #putyourbatsout as a mark of respect to the tragic player.


The hashtag soon started trending on Twitter with current and former cricket stars, celebrities and fans from Australia to the UK and everywhere in between sharing pictures of their bats in tribute to Hughes.
