Sean Avery rips 'fatso' Martin Brodeur on Twitter over 'Dancing With the Stars ...

Sean Avery doesn't dance around when it comes to trashing longtime foe Martin Brodeur.

The former Rangers agitator unleashed a brutal Twitter rant at Brodeur after the Devils goalie mocked his appearance on 'Dancing With the Stars' in an interview with the New Jersey newspaper The Star-Ledger.

'What more could he do to embarrass himself? There it is!' Brodeur said.

Avery, who was one of the first two contestants eliminated on the hit ABC show, hit back on Twitter with everything he had.

Twitter

'Woke up beside a #Supermodel to hear news that #Fatso made a comment ... @DancingABC equals Thousands of $ for charity,' Avery wrote, referring to fianceƩ Hilary Rhoda and resurrecting his nickname for Brodeur. He first used it when asked about a handshake snub following a heated 2008 Stanley Cup playoff series.

'Fatso there just forgot to shake my hand,' Avery said at the time.

Two minutes later, Avery made it even more personal: 'Embarrassing is when u sleep with the #Nanny and get caught.'

Avery was referencing Brodeur's most embarrassing public moment, the divorce from wife Melanie DuBois over allegations that he cheated on her with DuBois' brother's wife, Genevieve Nault, whom Brodeur eventually married.

Avery scored three goals and had two assists in the 2008 playoff series against the Devils, but he's best remembered for inventing disruptive tactics against Brodeur that the NHL immediately ruled illegal. He would stand in front of Brodeur's crease, facing the goalie with his back to the play, and wave his stick and hands in front of Brodeur to distract his view of the puck.

Avery's NHL career ended when then-coach John Tortorella relegated him to the Rangers' minor-league system after a fall 2011 call-up, and then Avery was considered such a negative influence in Hartford that the club scratched him indefinitely.

Avery recently collected approximately $100,000, according to a report, in a grievance against the Rangers and NHL dating to his 2011-12 suspension while in Hartford. The scorned player, however, tweeted upon seeing that report on March 9: 'Hey ... it was over a 100k ...'

And we're not even getting into his pre-New York 'sloppy seconds' days.

He certainly knows how to fire people up, and after his tweets created another firestorm on Thursday, Avery tweeted a photo of a coffee and doughnut and made a few more enemies:
