Top 100 Most Subscribed YouTube Channels Worldwide • January 2014

It's another installment of the Top 100 Most Subscribed YouTube Channels Worldwide and PewDiePie's Bro Army continues to amass recruits at a quick clip.

The honor of Most Subscribed YouTube Channel in January 2013 goes, once again, to the Most Subscribed Channel on YouTube. Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg's PewDiePie channel added an incredible 2.48 million subscribers in the 31 days of the month, a 10% uptick over its numbers from December. The repository of Let's Play videos' next closest competitor is a long way back.

Top Gainers

YouTube's very own Spotlight Channel and destination for all videos related to the video sharing site's tentpole events (including the annual YouTube Rewind, YouTube Music Awards, Comedy Week and ) maintained its #2 spot on the chart despite a 13% decrease in monthly subscribers, brining its January total to 1.74 million.

Channel Distribution

Grace Helbig is in third place. The online video personality who officially left her MyDamnChannel-owned DailyGrace channel to set up shop at a YouTube channel of her very own at the beginning of 2014 added a very impressive 1.2 million subscribers during the month. In the #4 spot is YouTube's Movies channel. The destination where online video viewers can rent and own major motion pictures for a price added more than 1.14 million subscribers in January. And rounding out the Top 5 is Katy Perry. The pop star grew her YouTube fan base by nearly 1.11 million subscribers in the month.

The aforementioned Grace Helbig is the Top Gainer in January. Her personal YouTube channel lay dormant for several years until she made it her online video home on January 6, 2014. Fans flocked to her new online video destination to the tune of 1.2 million subscribers, an 8,892% increase over her December numbers.

The Top 100 Most Subscribed YouTube channels in January amassed in aggregate a total of 42,986,569 new subscribers. Here's a look at the distribution of a few of those channels broken down by the most-represented YouTube Multi-Channel Networks on the chart:

VEVO: 14 channels in the Top 100 Most Subscribed, with Katy Perry at #5. Maker Studios: 12 channels in the Top 100, with PewDiePie at #1. Fullscreen, Machinima: 9 channels each in the Top 100, with Fullscreen's H2ODelirious at #28 and Machinima's VanossGaming at #6. BoomerangTV, Google, StyleHaul: 2 channels each in the Top 100, with BoomerangTV's Vegetta777 at #13, Google's YouTube at #2, and StyleHaul's zoella280390 at #41.
