Instagram user Benvoy Seals claimed that Rihanna told him that he was going to hell because he's gay. Now he is flip-flopping on his statement, saying that he fabricated the entire story.

, 26, made headlines on February 20 when Instagram user Benvoy Seals posted a picture of the singer responding to a comment that he made under one of RiRi's birthday posts. Now the user is retracting his claim and saying that he was lying the entire time.

Benvoy wrote under the singer's birthday pic, 'Rihanna you going to hell girl.' Then the singer allegedly replied 'Arnt you gay?...Nuff said Blah!'

This whole controversy seemed strange and like something that Rihanna would not say at all, especially after posting a picture of herself in a P6 hat on Instagram, which supports a campaign against Russia's anti-gay propaganda law.

Benvoy deleted the original screenshot from Instagram on Feb 21. and replaced it with a retraction statement saying,'The picture is a fake. Rihanna would never say something like that. I apologize on my behalf. I clearly wasn't thinking. Sorry Rihanna if I 'F' up your birthday.'

Benvoy also told TMZ, ' I lied...I don't know why, I just did.'

On the one hand, I am really glad that Benvoy's claim is false because I would hope that Rihanna would never say anything negative to anyone! On the other, I hope that this scandal will pass and Benvoy will learn his lesson and not make up stories or comments that could potentially hurt many people.
