Ian Watkins has been jailed for 35 years (Picture: Getty)An innocent man who describes himself as a 'slightly balding fattish bloke' has received a torrent of online abuse from Twitter users confusing him with jailed paedophile rock singer Ian Watkins.Peterborough businessman Ian Watkins, 56, has received hundreds of abusive tweets directed to his @ianwatkins account on the micro-blogging site.
Mr Watkins, who has 326 followers, spends time responding to the messages, pointing users to the disgraced Lostprophets singer's official @ian_watkins account.
@ianwatkinsHe also responds to the angry messages with hashtags including: #checkthebio, #shouldhavegonetospecsavers and #engagebrainb4usingkeyboard.
Despite changing the information on his biography to 'Not from the Lost Prophets', the abusive messages have continued.
@ianwatkins'The inability to differentiate between a rock star Welshman and a slightly balding fattish bloke is beyond some people,' explained Mr Watkins.
'I'll have to tell my parents off for not foreseeing this. It's amazing that 56 years ago they didn't foresee the internet, Twitter and a namesake who would be the subject of so much hate.'
Rock singer Watkins w as jailed for 35 years earlier this month after admitted 13 sex offences, including the attempted rape of an 11-month-old baby.
