Miranda Kerr learnt a valuable lesson about the internet on Friday - you cannot believe everything you see.

It was the same lesson her more than 2.6million Instagram followers learnt just a two days before when they were left scratching their heads after the 30-year-old posted a flashback picture that just did not look right.

To celebrate the Victoria's Secret show airing on Wednesday, the Australia stunner posted an image of her standing with Doutzen Kroes and Alessandra Ambrosio backstage at the 2012 show.

Kerr's fans and critics quickly started questioning why the model's waist was smaller.

On Friday the mother of Flynn, two, confessed that the image was Photoshopped.

The catwalk star posted on Instagram along with the original image: 'When I re-posted the photo this week to support the girls I screen grabbed it off the internet when I was working in Japan.

'I had no idea it was Photoshopped.

'All good intentions - sorry for the confusion and congratulations to the girls for such a great show!'

Kerr had posted the first image, taken by a Vogue photographer backstage then altered, as this year s he was unable to attend due to commitments in Asia.

So the 5ft 9in model shared the year-old image with the caption: 'Sending love and best wishes to the #vsangels from Japan xxx'.

Despite the drama, it was business as usual for Miranda and her Instagram on Friday with the star posting a behind the scenes video of her shoot for the December issue of Self Magazine.

In the article the Australian did not directly mention her split from husband Orlando Bloom but explained to the magazine how she makes herself feel better when she's sad.

She told Self: 'If I'm having a challenging moment, I jump for joy. Literally.

'After a minute, I feel better, and after a few minutes, I'm really happy. Everything else just drops off.

'It gets me out of my head and into my body, and makes me feel present.'

In the shoot the star wears a host of stomach flashing ensembles - which, even without Photoshop, looked amazing.

For the cover the 30-year-old donned a long sleeved blue cropped sweater with bottom flashing blue panties.

The star also donned a part futuristic, part sexy boxer look that featured a yellow and silver coat with a silver boy legged bikini.
