Budding model Ireland Baldwin took to Twitter in defense of her dad, Alec, who she says has a 'kind heart' despite his mistakes.

Alec Baldwin may have asked that his family be left out of his raging feud with the media in his Huffington Post rant on Saturday, but his daughter Ireland Baldwin has rushed to defend her famous father in a Twitter rant of her own.

Ireland Baldwin, 17, posted several messages to her Twitter page on Saturday night declaring that her dad has a 'kind heart,' and that his misstep - hurling an apparent homophobic slur at paparazzi on Thursday - should not define him.

'My dad is far from a homophobe or a racist,' she wrote.

'We all say things we don't mean. We all say things we can't take back. ... My point being, what my dad said was WRONG. What my dad felt WASN'T.'

The budding model also echoed her dad's disdain for the shutterbugs constantly trailing her and her equally famous mother, actress Kim Basinger.

'Having paparazzi following my mom and I has not been thrilling,' she wrote. 'Boundaries have to be made. Paparazzi have jobs to do, but some of them jeopardize people's lives and cross a line.'

'My dad has an INFANT CHILD to protect...All the parents out there should understand. You would do anything to protect your baby.'

The '30 Rock' star's meltdown came after Genevieve Sabourin was convicted Thursday for stalking Baldwin, 55, and his wife Hilaria Baldwin, 29. Sabourin was sentenced to seven months in jail, which includes 30 days for contempt of court.

In his Huffington Post rant, Baldwin maintained that he was provoked by the paparazzi though did not use any anti-gay language. He also suggested that he could renounce his Hollywood career - and suffer the loss of his MSNBC program 'Up Late with Alec Baldwin' - for the sake of his family.

'If quitting the television business, the movie business, the theater, any component of entertainment, is necessary in order to bring safety and peace to my family, then that is an easy choice,' Baldwin wrote.
