Facebook hires Michelle Morris from Google to rev up automotive sales

Facebook is making its pitch to auto manufacturers, showing that the social network can be an effective tool for generating sales. The company announced Monday the hiring of Michelle Morris, most recently the Managing Director of Automotive at Google. Morris is now Facebook's Vertical Lead for Auto in the U.S., reporting to Dan Creekmore, U.S. Group Lead, Auto.

She'll work out of Facebook's Detroit office, coordinating with auto manufacturers and helping them use Facebook to build their brands as well as generate sales.

Prior to working for Google, Morris ran the Chrysler brand account at BBDO and also held leadership positions in the agency's corporate marketing, retail sales training and human resource departments. She was honored as one of Crain's Detroit 40 under 40 professionals.
