YouTube has offered some of its vlogging stars bonuses to sign multi-year deals with the channels, as rival services such as Vessel and Facebook try to steal away the talent, The Wall Street Journal reports.
The top video makers are being offered the bonus to agree to post content exclusively on YouTube for a time, with the company having also offered to fund additional programming by some of its video makers over the past few months as the video market heats up.
A spokesperson for YouTube told the Wall Street Journal that it has always supported its video creators and has 'been increasing that support through a broad range of activities including marketing and content funding.'
Start-up video subscription service Vessel has been trying to poach those who use YouTube as a main vlogging platform, with terms that would see the video posted exclusively on Vessel for at least three days before it is posted anywhere else.
Wall Street Journal has reported that Vessel has offered to pay vloggers who go across in advance, based on how well the creator's videos have performed on YouTube.
Facebook is also reportedly on the hunt for YouTube stars willing to go turncoat and post their content exclusively to Facebook.
