Judy Finnigan apologises after suffering Twitter backlash for defending rapist ...

Judy and co were discussing the release of convicted rapist Ched Evans, who was imprisoned in 2012 after raping a 19-year-old in Rhyl.

Evans is preparing to leave prison, with just a matter of days left on his sentence, and over 100,000 people have signed a petition to prevent him returning to play for his former club Sheffield United.

Discussing the former footballer's release from prison, Judy said: 'He's served his time. The rape and I am not, please, by any means minimising any kind of rape - but the rape was not violent. He didn't cause any bodily harm to the person.

'It was unpleasant, in a hotel room, I believe, and she was - she had far too much to drink. And you know, that is reprehensible, but he has been convicted and he has served his time.'
