Twitter reacts to Wayne Rooney's red card against West Ham yesterday

You're off! Wayne Rooney walks off the pitch after receiving his straight red card

Wayne Rooney was sent off for the first time in nearly five years in a Manchester United shirt on Saturday afternoon and Twitter, in usual fashion, reacted dramatically.


The Red Devils' official Twitter account said that the decision to send off the team captain for his lash out on West Ham's Stewart Downing sparked debate in the stands - and it certainly did online.


Rooney will now miss key games against West Brom, Everton and Chelsea - enough for one fan to even say they need to SELL their star striker.
