A young bachelor arranged on Facebook to meet a cute young woman, but it was really a blind date - she and her accomplices robbed him blind.
The 22-year-old man thought he was going to enjoy a romantic evening with a new lady friend, who was a stranger to him until they met on the popular social media site. It was their first date.
But after she spent only 25 minutes in his pad at the Forest Houses on E. 166th St. in Morrisania on Sept. 9, she suddenly said she had to split, police said.
He might have been disappointed - but it would soon get much worse.
As the oblivious would-be Romeo opened the door to escort her out about 4:45 p.m., three young thieves, one of whom was packing heat, were in the hallway waiting for him, police said.
The bandits, all of whom were wearing hooded sweatshirts, pushed their way inside and forced him onto the floor, cops said. The trio roughed him up, tied him up and stole $1,200 cash and electronics worth a combined $9,000. They even took his shoes.
It was not clear how a call for help was made, but when emergency responders arrived, the victim refused medical attention.
The NYPD released surveillance photos of the three male suspects on Thursday in hopes someone will be able to help identify them.
Investigators also are attempting to identify the woman who served as bait in the robbery plan, but NYPD officials did not provide a description of her.
Police ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. The public can also submit tips on the Crime Stoppers' website, http://ift.tt/17IHIZe or text 274637 (CRIMES) and entering TIP577.
