Love at first flight: Irish traveler uses Twitter to find Canadian woman he ...

A couple of international travelers may have found love - thanks to a three-hour flight and a little help from social media.

On a July flight from Spain to Ireland, 24-year-old Jamie Kelly sat next to a beautiful Canadian woman, but he didn't get her phone number before they parted ways. Determined not to give up on the missed connection, he asked Twitter for help finding a girl he only knew as 'Katie from Nova Scotia.'

And Twitter didn't let him down.

Ireland's Kelly and his new love interest, Katie Moreau, have been reunited online, and they're planning an in-person visit soon.

It all started when the two were seated next to each other on a Ryanair flight from Barcelona to Dublin.

Moreau was on her way home after traveling Spain and Italy for two months and was eager to talk to an English-speaker. The 'handsome Irishman' next to her seemed like good company, she told Canada's CBC.

The two flyers hit it off immediately.

They chatted for the whole flight and followed each other through the terminal.

But they were separated at customs: Kelly went through the EU-only lane and Moreau got in the non-EU line. Kelly waited on the other side of customs for his new interest, but she never showed up.

He asked the airline for information on his seatmate, but for privacy reasons, they couldn't help. He tried searching on Facebook, but without her last name, he couldn't narrow down the field of Katies in Canada.

Undefeated, he took his campaign to Twitter.

Under the hashtags #findkatie and #loveatfirstflight, Kelly searched for his Canadian dream girl. A local Irish radio host featured his quest, and the crush crusade spread further.

Then, one of Katie's relatives saw the story.

As it turns out, she was just as eager to find Kelly.

'We had lots in common plus he was very easy on the eyes,' Moreau told CBC.

The 27-year-old said she waited for her seatmate when she was finished with customs, but she didn't want to seem desperate if her feelings were unrequited. So, she left the terminal without her new crush.

'I suppose, in hindsight, looking a bit longer wouldn't seem as desperate in comparison,' she said.

Since their virtual reunion, Moreau and Kelly have been talking to each other online. They plan to meet up in person next week - but it's not clear which one will make the 2,500-mile trip between Nova Scotia and Ireland.
