Bryan Singer teases 'X

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' director Bryan Singer launched a new Instagram account today with a photo of the first page of the treatment for 'X-Men: Apocalypse,' the next installment in the booming franchise.

The snapshot of the document, written with Simon Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris, reveals a few tantalizing details, including a 'sprawling battle' at the Nile involving the Four Horsemen, who appeared in the end credits of 'X-Men: Days of Future Past.'

The treatment, dated June 6, couldn't be touted at a better time. Singer's current box-office concern, 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' just surpassed 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' this weekend to become the year's internationally top-grossing film. The feature has raked in more than $713 million in just over a month, besting any other installment in the series.

Singer's legal troubles still loom - former model and actor Michael Egan filed a civil lawsuit in April accusing Singer of sexually assaulting him more than a decade ago. The controversy caused the director to sit out the publicity tour for 'Days of Future Past.' But this peek at the treatment for 'Apocalypse' may signal that Singer is confident that he'll direct the film.

Previously 20th Century Fox had seemed to distance itself from the director, stating in April that 'these are serious allegations, and they will be resolved in the appropriate forum. This is a personal matter, which Bryan Singer and his representatives are addressing separately.'

Egan also accused former Walt Disney Television President David Neuman, theater producer Gary Wayne Goddard and former network television executive Garth Ancier of sexual assault, but his lawyers have dropped those three lawsuits; Ancier is now suing Egan and the man's attorneys. Singer has filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit against him. A hearing for the case is set for Aug. 4.

The upcoming installment of the X-Men franchise is set for release on May 27, 2016.
