It's time for another installment of our monthly Tubefilter Top 100 Most Viewed YouTube Channels Chart and PewDiePie is yet again still up in that #1 spot.
Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg's PewDiePie channel is at the top of the charts for its third month in a row. The online video destination with over 27 million subscribers who like Kjellberg's special brand of online video game related programming (and also donate to charitable causes) scored nearly 311.2 million views in the 31 days of May, a 5% increase over the month prior. That equals out to just over 116 views per second. Yes, per second.
Top Gainers
Katy Perry's hidden camera ' Birthday' music video and the rest of the titles in her online video catalogue kept her in the #2 spot in the world in May despite a 17% dip in views. The pop star ended the month with more than 211.7 million views. Up next in third place is Shakira. The worldwide sensation with a single name snuck into the Top 5 thanks to a track and music video especially made for the 2014 World Cup. ' La La La' helped her channel amass more nearly 206.7 million views on the month.
Next up in the #4 spot is DisneyCollectorBR. The online video channel dedicated to featuring reviews of, and playtime with children's toys racked up almost 200.9 million views during the month. And rounding out the Top 5 is Stampylonghead. The UK-based Minecraft-er who wants to use video games for educational purposes scored more than 165 million views in May.
Channel Distribution
The honor of being one of our Top Gainers this month goes to Iggy Azalea.
The hip hop artist imported from Australia by way of Miami is tearing up the music charts (currently with singles in the #1 and #2 spots on the Billboard 100) and getting a lot of video play on YouTube, too. The 24-year-old racked up more than 60.6 million views on her YouTube channel in May, making it the 62nd most viewed channel in the world. That number amounts to a 181% increase over April's view count and can all be contributed to the ongoing popularity of her Clueless-inspired music video for ' Fancy'.
