Instagram is once again being used as a tool for celebrities to his make social waves. Rapper, and record producer, Kanye West is trying to increase his influence in the social media realm. Already a household name with a reported net worth upwards of $100 million, West is looking to lend his visual enhancement skills to the social media stratosphere. Reports indicate that West is looking to redesign Instagram. The social media application is focused around 'photo sharing,' but has also become immersed in video sharing.
The multi-talented West is a 'self-admitted Instagram expert' who believes Instagram would stand to benefit from a revamp. West has already spoken to Instagram CEO, Kevin Systrom. The outspoken music mogul bluntly suggested 'Why don't you let us redo Instagram?' West believes that Instagram and social media is too time consuming stating the popular application is 'Nice looking,' however 'In general everyone spends all of their time looking at their screens of their phones.' While no reports of a full proposal or a detailed plan have been disclosed the general consensus appears to be that has offered his services to Systrom. There is no word yet on weather Systrom has entertained West's suggestion to let him conduct the 'simple task.' West believes he is more than capable of cleaning up the application.
West, aka 'Yeezy' doesn't have a great deal of multimedia design experience but he is well-known for his signature styles and flare. He has always been viewed as 'the kind of artist who gets deeply involved in the creative process.' Throughout his career the musician has transcended into other entertainment realms. Originally a hip- hop beat Producer, West branched into production of many genres, and later after writing songs for years decided to pursue a solo rap career. After the immense success of his solo career and continued success as a producer and songwriter, Yeezy branched into directing and runs his own 'Good Music' record label. Incredibly influenced by fashion West has debuted, opened and designed clothing lines in Paris for the likes of Luis Vuitton.
There is no evidence to suggest Systrom views West as the undeniable 'Steve Jobs of the internet' that he claims to be. However, before Instagram West looked to redesign Nike. West received an endorsement deal for Nike back in 2009. The sneaker company produced two of his exclusive high-end shoes. Recently the pair split due to creative differences when Nike CEO,Mark Parker did not allow West to design his own Nike Air Yeezy line. Since then West has announced a new deal with Adidas to relaunch his new sneakers.
West's credibility with the visual platform for Instagram may not be limited to just his fashion expertise. At a press conference Tuesday, the Chicago native that he worked on editing Kimye's infamous Instagram first kiss wedding photo for 'four days.' The picture became 'the most liked photo on Instagram of all time with 2.3 million likes and counting. West claimed the couple's photographer Annie Liebovitz, 'pulled out of the wedding,' leaving the Kimye still longing for professional looking photographs. West then looked to Instagram for to help redesign he and Kim Kardashian's wedding kiss. No sources have been able to determine if the timing of both announcements is circumstantial or was premeditated. Only time will tell if West will get the opportunity to take his innovations to Instagram users worldwide.
