Are you oversharing on Facebook? You might be and not know it if you haven't checked your Instagram settings in a while.
A certain amount of etiquette should be used in your approach to social media. And toward the top of the things-not-to-do list -- right after being outright offensive -- is oversharing. No matter how fascinating your life may seem, I'd wager that not one of your followers enjoys receiving an update from each stop you make throughout your day.
If you don't know about an Instagram setting that I found out about only today, then the app may be oversharing on your behalf, posting to your Facebook timeline each time you like a photo on Instagram. Unless you are following a collection of the most dazzling Instagram photographers and are very judicious with your likes, this type of sharing probably isn't resulting in a positive contribution to Facebook.
To make sure you aren't sharing your Instagram likes to your Facebook timeline, you must turn off a setting in Instagram.
On an iPhone, navigate to your profile and tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner. Under Preferences, tap Share Settings and then tap Facebook.
Next, you will see a slider for Share Likes To Timeline. Make sure it is turned off.
On Android, the path is similar, though depending on which version you are running, Facebook and its Share Likes to Timeline slider may be listed under Sharing Settings or Linked Accounts.
