James Franco Admits to Hitting on Underage Girl via Instagram

This morning on Live with Kelly and Michael, James Franco, without any prompting, admitted that a viral screenshot of inappropriate Instagram direct messages between him and an underage girl were real.

Franco confessed that he did try to hit on a 17-year-old Scottish schoolgirl who had attended one of his shows, but that he had no idea that the pictures would go viral. 'I didn't want to come on the show and just feel awkward, but I'm embarrassed, and I guess I'm just a model of how social media is tricky,' he told and Michael Strahan. 'It's a way people meet each other these days, but what I've learned, because I'm new at it, is that you don't know who's on the other end.' ( Franco joined Twitter in 2012, which, to be fair, is pretty late in the social media world.)

'At the end of the day, I used bad judgement,' he added, before going on a tangent about how his problems get blown up by the media because of his celebrity status.

Weirdly enough, the news came right before the release of Franco's newest film Palo Alto, in which he plays a soccer coach who starts dating a teenage girl. Is this life imitating art? Or is this a weird James Franco stunt where he makes his life imitate art? James Franco's mind is weird.
