Rachel Canning lost her initial court case against her parents, and the Twitter-sphere seems to agree with the judge.

Twitter has spoken, and in the case of Rachel Canning Vs. Her Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Canning have definitely emerged victorious. It's undeniable - tweets show that the people absolutely agree with the New Jersey Judge Peter Bogaard's verdict that the 18-year-old cheerleader's parents shouldn't be forced to support their daughter financially.

If this claim seems ridiculous to you - a legal adult trying to force her parents to give her an $800/week allowance - then Twitter has spoken and is on your side.

It seems clear that online public opinion finds Rachel's claim to guaranteed parental funding totally bogus. And legally speaking, there are no grounds for an 18-year-old - an ADULT - to insist that her parents continue to take care of her financially nor otherwise.

The popular opinion on the Internet seems to be that Rachel is spoiled, and completely unreasonable in her quest for financial support:

Rachel Canning Claiming Abuse And Sexual Assault

In her recent court appearance, the transcriptions show that Rachel brought up being verbally abused by her mother, Elizabeth Canning.

'She called me 'fat' and 'porky',' Rachel said, adding that the comments led her to bulimia.

Her testimony also insinuated that she was physically abused by her father, Sean Canning,

'My father gave me the sense that he was inappropriately affectionate with me,' she said. 'He mentioned frequently that my relationship in his eyes was not one of a daughter, but more than that.'

While we do not know the truth behind these accusations, and abuse is never a laughing matter, Rachel has made herself seem so unreliable by taking her parents to court over money that they have no obligation to provide her with; hence the unpopular public opinion.

It will be interesting to see what happens next, but in the meantime, we're sure the Tweets will keep coming and keep mocking.
