Justin's previously faithful Beliebers seem to have turned on him after Twitter claims that the young fan had died before getting to meet her idol

Justin Bieber just can't catch a break these days.

Now even some of his devoted Beliebers seem to have turned on the troubled pop prince after what appears to be a Twitter death hoax involving a young polish woman suffering from cancer.

Earlier this week #JustinMeetAnita trended on the social network following an appearance by the young woman on a Polish chat show where she apparently revealed her wish to meet the troubled singer.

Shortly after a Polish fan of Bieber created an image from her appearance with the words: 'This is Anita. She is 17 years old from Poland. She suffers from cancer. She has dreams like every single one of us, but her biggest dream is to meet Justin.

'If you want to help Anita with making her dream a reality, please tweet this picture to Justin, Scooter, Alfredo, Za or anyone who is close with him. #JustinMeetAnita.'

The trending topic quickly gained momentum but fizzled out as it was replaced with #RIPAnita which soared to the top of the worldwide trends and led to some of the Biebs' fans attacking him.

Despite there being no proof that Anita had passed away, Beliebers hit out at their former idol and even his on/off girlfriend Selena Gomez for not meeting her.

'#RipAnita Heaven has gaines another angel(sic),' wrote one. 'Justin had no time to meet her because he was together with Selena.'

'#RipAnita, She died without knowing you, Justin,' tweeted another. 'Oh, sorry, you were too much busy.'

'#RipAnita Can Justin at least tweet about this or is he too busy with Selena? Smh.. Of course, I kinda expected this.'

However an account purporting to be the girl in question took to Twitter to say that she was still very much alive, but that she was leaving the social network for a while.

Writing in her native language, the account thanked the people who helped bring her wish to the public's attention but wrote that 'sick popularity' is not for her before announcing that she was leaving.
