DreamWorks Animation to Produce Daily Shows for YouTube

William White, InvestorPlace Writer

DreamWorks Animation ( DWA) is teaming up with Google's ( GOOG) YouTube to create daily shows for the video-streaming service.

The daily show being created by YouTube and DreamWorks Animation will focus on what is trending on the website. The show, called YoutTube Nation, will have its own host and DreamWorks Animation has hired 10 people to help with its production. The show will have a five-minute segment that focuses on highlighting what is currently popular on YouTube. It will be the first time that YouTube has teamed up with a major studio for such a deal, reports The Los Angeles Times.

YouTube tried for a similar type of show in 2008, but it didn't take off. The show, called Poptub, was a collaboration between YouTube and Embassy Row.

YouTube and DreamWorks Animations' YouTube Nation will likely follow a similar format that is used by Phillip DeFranco's SourceFed and Ray William Johnson's =3.
