See the most

This year, for the first time in Instagram history, a photo garnered more than 1 million 'likes.' That's no easy feat when the photo sharing app's 150 million-plus users post more than 55 million pictures to the app every day-but if anyone could pull it off, it's Justin Bieber.

The photo below, shared from the 19-year-old pop star's account four months ago, was just announced as Instagram's most popular photo of the year, with 1.5 million likes. Captioned 'Me and uncle Will,' the rather ordinary shot of Bieber and actor Will Smith claimed the top rank thanks to Bieber's 12 million-plus Instagram followers, who chimed in with more than 60,000 comments.

If this simple shot doesn't excite you, maybe Instagram's most-used hashtag of the year will. In 2013, #love was tagged the most frequently, with #tbt (throw back Thursday), #friends, #fashion, #food, and #selfie also among the top hashtags.

And how about the most-Instagrammed day of the year? That honor goes to ' Thanksgivukkah,' Nov. 28, when for the first time in more than 100 years, Thanksgiving and Hanukkah coincided-and Instagram users posted a record number of photos in one day.

Finally, Instagram also revealed the locations in the U.S. that were geotagged the most in 2013 -and unsurprisingly, they include many of America's most famous tourist attractions. The top ten spots were:

1. Times Square, New York City2. Disneyland California, Anaheim3. Bellagio Fountains, Las Vegas4. Disney World Florida, Orlando5. Staples Center, Los Angeles6. Central Park, New York City7. Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles8. The Highline, New York City9. Empire State Building, New York City10. Caesars Casino, Las Vegas
